GHFEDS would like to invite your family to our Summer Turtle Patrol Jr at Galveston Island State Park.
You will need to check in at the park office to receive your permit for admission. This event is free for all family members. You can go to the beach prior to the Turtle Patrol Jr, let the rangers know you will be attending the class.
Become a Junior Ranger and help us save our sea turtles!
While most of us are getting ready to relax for the weekend and eat dinner, park rangers continue their work and patrol the beaches for critters. We want your help and keen observation skills to find our sea turtles.
You can become a citizen scientist, and help the park to understand more about the Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle, an endangered species that nests Galveston Island State Park. We will take a stroll down the beach and explore ways to help the environment.
We will meet at the day use picnic area and begin a short hike down the beach and through the dunes, patrolling for turtles on this easy, evening beach hike. Great for anyone wanted to become a Junior Ranger. Families, groups, and pets on a leash are welcome. Junior Ranger Edition focuses on more hands-on and kid-friendly activities and topics.
