About GHFEDS
GHFEDS focuses on providing family support and education, building a strong community of families with Down syndrome, and educating the community in hopes of providing a positive outlook for our children and adults with Down syndrome. As part of this, we work towards supporting families of individuals with Down syndrome from birth to old age and getting new parents the right resources early so that all babies get a good start.
Membership is open to individuals, families, friends and professionals interested in Down syndrome.
Some of our existing programs include:
- Quarterly parent educational meetings
- Lending library
- New parent support and resources
- Community outreach to medical professionals
- Community outreach to schools and educators
- Adult/Teen/Youth/Baby socials
- Family, Sibling and Parent socials
- Annual Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk
- Education grants for special education teachers
