Joanie Garro, MA, BCBA, CT will be the guest speaker at the GCLFEDS monthly meeting in August.  Ms. Garro has worked with individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities for over 25 years. Before that her experience came from her 8 brothers and sisters, 2 of whom had special needs (Down Syndrome and Autism)   Ms. Garro is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a Certified Special Education Teacher (CT). She holds a Master’s degree in psychology from the Applied Behavior Analysis program at the University of Houston Clear Lake (2007) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education (1990).
 

Ms. Garro will be
discussing The Effects of Adult Proximity on the Social Interaction of Children With and Without Disabilities.  Her primary area of focus will be the following topics:  

Social Interaction, Proximity, Paraprofessional Training, Inclusion

 

The meeting is at 6:30pm on August 18th at the United Way Building at 1300 Bay Area Blv.  A light dinner will be served and childcare will be available.
